Learn how to set up Attry, add hidden fields, integrate your forms, and troubleshoot common issues.

How Attry Works

Attry is a lightweight snippet that captures marketing source data from UTMs and referrers, classifies each visit into a clean set of channels, and fills hidden fields on your forms so the data reaches your CRM and other tools.

Channel fields

Attry reads UTM parameters and the referrer to determine the marketing channel for each visitor. We store the result in a set of fields you can post to your CRM: channel, channel_drilldown_1, channel_drilldown_2, channel_drilldown_3 and channel_drilldown_4.

How drilldowns work

  • Channel - Top level like Paid Search, Organic Search, Paid Social, Organic Social, Referral, Email, Display, Affiliates, Direct, Other Campaigns.
  • Channel Drilldown 1 - Next level of detail like source or network.
  • Channel Drilldown 2 - Additional detail like campaign or domain.
  • Channel Drilldown 3 - Finer detail like keyword or ad group when available.
  • Channel Drilldown 4 - Finest detail like ad content when available.
Paid Search

Channel Drilldown 1 = utm_source, Channel Drilldown 2 = utm_campaign, Channel Drilldown 3 = utm_term, Channel Drilldown 4 = utm_content.

Paid Social

Channel Drilldown 1 = utm_source, Channel Drilldown 2 = utm_campaign, Channel Drilldown 3 = utm_term, Channel Drilldown 4 = utm_content.

Organic Search

Channel Drilldown 1 = search engine name, Channel Drilldown 2 = engine domain, Channel Drilldown 3 = search query when provided by the engine.

Organic Social

Channel Drilldown 1 = social network name, Channel Drilldown 2 = referring domain when available.

Referral

Channel Drilldown 1 = referrer domain, Channel Drilldown 2 = full referrer URL.

Email, Display, Affiliates, Other Campaigns

Channel Drilldown 1 = utm_source, Channel Drilldown 2 = utm_campaign, Channel Drilldown 3 = utm_term, Channel Drilldown 4 = utm_content.

Direct

No drilldowns for direct traffic.

Landing page fields

In addition to channel information, Attry records what content brought the visitor to your site. We capture two fields: landingpage and landingpagegroup.

What we store

  • landingpage is the first page path a visitor saw on your site, for example /blog/capture-utm-parameters-salesforce.
  • landingpagegroup groups content by the first path segment, for example /blog.

This lets you measure performance by content type like your blog, and then drill into the specific pages that generate the most leads and revenue.
